Catalysts for strong yields
The utilization of biodiesel reduces the use of fossil fuels. Today's biodiesel satisfies engine manufacturers' call for high-quality, powerful and economic fuel made from vegetable oils and animal fats. High-quality sodium or potassium methylate from BASF are used as catalysts in the transesterification process to help turn these oils into biodiesel in chemical processing. BASF's sodium methylate supports higher yields and low preparation cost. Potassium methylate is used for production with special oils and fats. Both are produced at BASF's Ludwigshafen Verbund site. Sodium methylate is also produced in Guaratinguetá, Brazil. BASF's experts in global logistics ensures reliable supply.
